The CNA said the blast occurred on the ground floor of a 3-storey building on a busy street in the Moghbazar area of the capital Dhaka, Bangladesh late on June 27.
In an interview with the press, the capital's police in Dhaka said at least seven people have died and about 50 injured have been taken to the hospital, including four in critical condition.
According to the police, the explosion was so large that 7 buildings and 3 buses near the scene were also damaged.
Witnessnesses said the scene was devastated with broken glass and concrete spilling onto the streets. Two passenger buses passing through the building at the time of the explosion crashed into each other, causing severe damage and injuring many passengers.
The cause of the incident is still unknown but is believed to be a gas explosion. Firefighters are working with police bomb and mine handling and anti-terrorism units to investigate the cause of the explosion.
