The5-year-old man, who lives in Snohomish County, Washington, said his condition is improving and he is looking forward to returning to normal life, the AP reported on February 3.
The American patient was unnamed for thanking the medical team at the Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, Washington, about 48 km north of Seattle.
The patient fell ill after returning from a visit to China and was hospitalized on January 20.
At the hospital, patients infected with the Corona virus are treated with robots using headphones with integrated microphones that allow patients to communicate with doctors remotely, HeraldNet said.
The patient continued to be treated at the hospital until January 31 and is currently quarantined at home and is being monitored by Snohomish County health workers in coordination with the hospital.
The hospital refuses to provide information about the time the patient is discharged from the hospital or the discharge process.
The single man arrived at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on January 15 after returning home from China. Officials said he began showing symptoms on January 16 and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed the patient was infected with Corona virus on January 20.
When still in the hospital, the patient was treated in a special isolation room with a separate air filter, away from other rooms. This special quarantine facility was established five years ago during the Ebola crisis. This is the first time the quarantine room has been used in a real-life crisis, according to HeraldNet.
