On April 10, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center said that after receiving feedback from the article "Forgetting works in the Southwest of Hue Citadel" from Lao Dong Newspaper, the unit has made a plan to overcome the messy situation of these two relic sites.
Accordingly, in the face of overgrown grass, garbage and even syringes left by addicts at the two relic sites of Hoa Duoc Khoi and Quan Tuong Dai, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center has directed forces to clean up and return clean space to the relic.
"We can do things right away like cleaning, we deploy them right away. In the long term, there will be a plan to bring visitors to these places to limit the situation of desertification, while maximizing the value of heritage - said the center representative.
As previously reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, two works bearing the Nguyen Dynasty's mark, Hoa Duoc Khoi and Quan Tuong Dai, located in the southwest of Hue Citadel (the intersection between Ong Ich Khiem and Ton That Thiep streets), are currently in a state of disrepair, covered by grass and have little attention and conservation to the right extent.
Hoa Hoa Hoa Hoa - a brick-built structure with a wall nearly 80cm thick - used to be a place to store ammunition and ammunition to serve the artillery defense system of the Imperial Citadel during the Nguyen Dynasty. Currently, this place is only used as a temporary storage place for belongings, not in accordance with its original historical value.
Not far away is the Quan Tuong Dai - the place where the royal palace's astronomical observation system was located, combining traditional architecture and modern Western equipment such as lunar glasses, solar watches, bored Oblasts, and tables. The project was built in 1827, a symbol of the Nguyen Dynasty's advanced scientific approach.
Despite their historical and architectural value, both buildings are currently covered with weeds and bushes. According to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, the inside of the blind Mars has also turned into a garbage collection site. The tiled roof was severely damaged, many tiles were broken, affecting the aesthetics and structure of the project.
In the context of Hue making efforts to promote the image of heritage and develop sustainable tourism, it is a pity that the two projects bearing a strong historical mark are being forgotten. Many tourists to Hue expressed regret at not being able to access and explore these relics.
