As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, a "death hole" suddenly appeared on March 29 at Km80+050 on National Highway 3B, passing through Hiep Luc village, Kim Lu commune (Na Ri district, Bac Kan), causing traffic disruption and many potential dangers.
According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper in early April 2025, the cage has a diameter of nearly 10m, swallowing both lanes and continuing to expand. Below are water, rocks and many caves.
Around the area, ropes have been stretched and warning signs have been placed, but many curious people are still recklessly crossing and gathering near the cage, posing a potential risk of accidents.
Located not far from the "death hole", subsidence has also occurred in people's fields, forming deep holes, causing farming households here to worry.
National Highway 3B is about 200km long, connecting Lang Son, Bac Kan, Tuyen Quang, playing an important role in connecting traffic in the Northern mountainous region. The subsidence of the road has greatly affected travel.
Having a house about 300m from the "death hole", Mr. Chu Van Thuong, Hiep Luc village, Kim Lu commune (Na Ri) said: "On the morning of March 29, while sleeping in the house, I heard a very loud ear. When running out, they saw that the road surface had collapsed, creating a deep hole.
At first, the cage was only a few meters wide, then gradually expanded. A few days later, although hundreds of cubic meters of soil and rock were dumped, they were all sucked down".
According to Mr. Thuong, at some sections of National Highway 3B, there were also cracks and sagging of more than 6cm.
This makes people feel insecure, especially when the rainy season is approaching. Many people did not dare to pass through this area because they were afraid that the land could collapse at any time.
Subsidence not only occurs on the road but also on cultivated land, affecting production and posing a potential danger.
Mr. Luong Thanh Loc - Vice Chairman of Na Ri District People's Committee said that as soon as the information was received, the unit quickly assessed the situation and identified about 21 households at risk of being directly affected by the incident.
"We have compiled statistics and made plans to relocate these households to safe places if the situation becomes serious," the leader added.
In addition, the Department of Construction of Bac Kan province has asked Na Ri district to warn people not to travel or graze livestock near the subsidence area. At the same time, monitor developments and have relocation plans if necessary.
