Parents take their children for neurological assessment
After a video recording a 20-month-old boy being beaten by a nanny during lunch at a private nursery group in Con Cung (Que My commune, Que Son district, Quang Nam) spread, the police officially began investigating, took statements from the parents, extracted the camera and took the child for injury assessment.
According to initial verification by the authorities, the 20-month-old baby has been sent by his family to Con Cung private nursery for about a month now.
Through images taken from the camera at noon on April 11, nanny Ngoc Lan (born in 1995, owner of the facility) forced the child out of bed, pulled the child's legs up and used a hard object to repeatedly hit him. When the child cried, this person also stuck a stiff object in the child's mouth. Notably, the above action did not happen just once and not just to a child.
"Seeing the images from the camera, my husband and I were in pain in every part of our intestines. My child was only 20 months old and was tortured like that in class. We will fight to the end, not accept exploitation - not only for our children but also for other children who are and may be the next victims," said Mr. N.P.T, the parent of the 20-month-old child.
Initial assessment results showed that the child had many 1-2cm long scratches on his face, head, arms and legs. The family said that since sending their child to this facility, he has often been startled and panicked in the middle of the night, sometimes while sleeping, he suddenly woke up, cried, then landed on the wall with his arms raised high in a scared position.
"You are too young to say anything. But when I saw my child being beaten and choked up in the middle of class, my wife quit her job to stay at home to take care of her child, hoping that her child would soon regain his peace after a series of horrifying days in a place named Con Cung, but the nanny was no different from the devil, Mr. T added choking up.
In addition to the injury assessment, doctors asked the family to let the child stay at the hospital to monitor nerve damage, due to concerns that the child would have brain damage - the parent worried.
Discovering more children being abused
According to classroom camera data, in addition to the 20-month-old victim, at least two other children were also beaten at noon. These acts are causing outrage and deep concern in the community.
According to local leaders, Con Cung Kindergarten was re-licensed to operate since 2020, with a limit of only 7 children of nursery and kindergarten age. However, through on-site inspection, the number of children admitted here is up to 13, exceeding the regulations.
Mr. Dinh Nguyen Vu - Secretary of Que Son District Party Committee - said: "As soon as I received the information, I directed to suspend the operation of this facility from the morning of April 12.
At the same time, they requested specialized units to visit and encourage the families of the children who were abused. The police are consolidating the case file to strictly handle the case, because beating children is unacceptable behavior.
The Department of Education and Training of Que Son district has also coordinated to inspect and review operating conditions, professional capacity, and supervise the raising of children at this facility and other private child care groups in the area.
According to parents, the camera at Con Cung Kindergarten is often turned off at noon, but on April 11, the owner of the facility was negligent in not turning off the camera, so the abuse was discovered by parents.
"At first, Ms. Ngoc Lan - nanny, also the owner of the facility denied the crime, but when the family showed the clip from the camera, she cried, apologized and thought she had lost her hand because the child was crying and refused to take a nap. However, my family does not accept this explanation" - parent N.P.T said.
