In order to proactively respond, on April 4, Chairman of Ca Mau People's Committee asked the Department of Industry and Trade to assume the prime responsibility for, and coordinate with the Department of Finance, Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Association of Fisheries Processing and Export of Ca Mau Province and the enterprises of fishery processing and exports in the province to urgently review and comprehensively evaluate the impact of the United States that applying the above tax rates on the production, processing and processing of aquatic products of Ca Mau province.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested units to study and propose short-term and long-term solutions to minimize negative impacts, ensure stable production, processing and consumption markets for the seafood industry of Ca Mau province, contributing to the successful implementation of the economic growth target in 2025.
Ca Mau has the largest shrimp farming area in the country with nearly 280,000 hectares; on average, the total annual seafood export turnover is more than 1 billion USD. In 2024, the export turnover to the US of seafood products will be more than 75 million USD.
