Promising a big win season
The whole Thanh Ha district currently has nearly 3,300 hectares of seaweed, most of which are in the fruit stage. Thanh Quang commune (Thanh Ha district, Hai Duong province) is one of the district's key fabric growing areas. At this time, gardeners are focusing on taking care of the fabric during the flowering and bearing stages.
Speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Nguyen Van Hien - Director of the Agricultural Service Cooperative of Thanh Quang commune, said: "The whole commune currently has more than 700 hectares of seaweed, of which 16 growing areas have been granted growing area codes for export. Notably, more than 400 hectares have met VietGAP and Global GAP standards, creating a foundation for access to international markets.
With more than 30 years of experience in growing fabric, Mr. Hien commented: "The rate of flowers this year is much higher than previous years. If the weather continues to be favorable in the coming months, Thanh Ha seaweed promises to have a big win season".

While carefully checking each cluster of small blooming flowers, Mr. Hien shared valuable experiences on how to care for fabric properly and make efforts to find an output for the product.
"We always focus on taking care of fertilizers at the right time and preventing pests and diseases effectively. My fabric is mainly consumed in the domestic market, but is still manufactured according to VietGAP process to maintain stable quality. I am also researching more channels to gradually take the product further in the coming time, Mr. Hien shared.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Thanh Ha district (Hai Duong province), up to this point, the estimated rate of flowering fabric this year is over 95%.
Right from the beginning of the season, the District Agricultural Extension Center and the District Agricultural Service Center have coordinated to organize training courses and instruct people on fabric care techniques, especially focusing on preventing awnings and pests such as velvet spiders, rambutan... in accordance with the recommendations of the Department of Crop Production - Plant Protection of Hai Duong province.
