Present in the list of 26 players participating in the World Cup with the Brazilian national team, Antony is expected to shine in Qatar, helping his hometown win the championship. But when asked about his biggest dream in life, career is not what the Man United midfielder thinks about. When asked about his dream, the Brazilian star shared:
I only have one dream, which is to help my parents get out of the suburbs. There is no B plan. I will do it or die in trying. With what I have gone through, only those who have lived with that can understand.
I often walk to school in the morning and one day, I saw a man lying in the alley. When I got closer, I saw that person had died. I was only 8 or 9 years old at the time.
I was born in hell. It's not a joke, the slum in Sao Paulo where I grew up was called Inferninho little hell. When you are too used to jumping in a dead body to go to school, you will no longer be afraid of anything in football. I have witnessed things that others cannot imagine.
