On April 6, the Quang Tri Economic Zone Management Board confirmed that this unit has just proposed to the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee to allocate capital to implement the pilot operation of the Quan Ngang Industrial Park Wastewater Treatment System project (Gio Quang and Gio Chau communes, Gio Linh district, Quang Tri province).
The leader of the Quang Tri Provincial Economic Zone Management Board said that the Quan Ngang Industrial Park facility (including the Quan Ngang Industrial Park Wastewater Treatment Plant project) was granted Environmental License No. 34/GPMT-BNNMT by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment on March 31, 2025.
Accordingly, the wastewater treatment system must undergo trial operation to monitor the quality and treatment efficiency of the system before officially putting it into operation, the operation period is 6 months (expected to start from May 1, 2025). Therefore, it is necessary to allocate 2 billion VND for the Economic Zone Management Board to have a basis for implementing a trial operation in accordance with the provisions of law.
"The unit has requested the People's Committee of Quang Tri province to consider and arrange capital to promptly carry out the steps of selecting a contractor to conduct a trial operation according to the granted environmental license" - the leader of the Quang Tri Provincial Economic Zone Management Board informed.
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper had many articles and information about the Quan Ngang Industrial Park Wastewater Treatment Plant, which was built in November 2017 with a total investment of 104 billion VND, but after 8 years of construction and 7 requests for an extension, this plant has not yet come into operation.
Meanwhile, every time it rains, wastewater in the industrial park flows out through sewers, overflowing into canals and fields, seriously affecting the production and daily life of people in the residential areas nearby.
Once the wastewater treatment system in Quan Ngang Industrial Park comes into operation, it will improve the water pollution and local sanitation, creating a favorable investment environment to attract investors to Quan Ngang Industrial Park.
