According to RT, more than 400 Russian peacekeeping soldiers and military equipment were successfully transported to the Ukrainian capital Yerevan. The group then moved to the front line in Nagorno-Karabakh.
The ceasefire between Armenia and Azerbaijan took effect at midnight Moscow time on November 10. So far, 20 Il-76 military transport aircraft have landed in Yerevan, carrying more than 400 members of the 15th peacekeeping Brigade and their equipment.
The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed in the early morning of November 11 that the first convoys of military vehicles have set off to set up observation stations along the communication route and the China corridor, the route connecting Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia.
Under the terms of the peace deal, 1,960 Russian troops and hundreds of vehicles will replace the Armenia forces in Nagorno-Karabakh.
These soldiers are part of the 15th Island Mechanized gun Brigade, a peacekeeping force assigned from the Central Military Region. Their command will be based in Stepanakert, the regional capital.
The ceasefire on November 10 is expected to end six weeks of fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh.
