Russian attack aircraft were still in international airspace about 65km off the coast of Alaska before being blocked by US air force stealth fighter F12, Fox News reported.
"The Russian military aircraft is 32 nautical miles off the coast of Alaska. However, the plane is still in international airspace and has not yet entered US airspace," NORAD informed.
According to NORAD, the force intercepted two Russian aircraft formations. The first formation includes 2 Tu-95 bombers, 2 Su-35 fighter jets escorted along with 1 A-50 early warning command aircraft.
The second Russian air force consists of two Tu-95 attack aircraft with an A-50 squadron.
On the morning of June 17, the Russian Defense Ministry released a video of the bombing. The video shows the US Air Force's F-22 blocking operation.
This is the 8th time this year that Russian military aircraft have entered the Canada or Alaska air defense identification zone, said Genence General J. O' Shaughnessy, commander of NORAD.
The incident comes just a week after a similar interception also occurred in the area.
At the previous event, NORAD said the first formation of two Tu-93 bombers, two Su-35 fighter jets and one Russian A-50 was located about 20 nautical miles from the coast of Alaska. The second team approaches at a distance of 32 nautical miles.
Russia is not the only side sending bombs to the region. On June 14, three US B-52 bombers from Louisiana were sent to Alaska to participate in the bombing squad, according to the US air force. In recent days, the US nuclear-powered transport aircraft has also flown near Russian territory.
