The goal of winning 7 gold medals at the 33rd SEA Games in shooting
Mr. Hoang Dao Cuong - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism - inspected the national teams participating in the 33rd SEA Games at the National High-level Athletes Training Center with 2 sports: cloud football and shooting.
Reporting to the Deputy Minister at the meeting, head coach of the Vietnam shooting team Nghiem Viet Hung said that the team has summoned 45 athletes, 6 coaches and 1 expert to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games taking place at the end of this year in Thailand. The large number in all events has created high and positive competition.
Through internal training sessions, tests, and competitions, the coaching staff will evaluate, select, and gradually reduce the level in the following stages, moving towards selecting the best athletes for the ASIAD and the Olympics.
"The requirement set by the management level is that Vietnamese shooting must complete additional teams of experts for key content groups and shooters must be guaranteed the best equipment, which is guns, for practice and competition. Currently, the Vietnam shooting team has a Mongolian expert from the women's handball team. It is expected that the sports industry will look for 1-2 more experts to do coaching work in other content groups," Mr. Nghiem Viet Hung reported.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong emphasized that shooting is one of the key sports that receives great attention and investment. The target for this sport at the 33rd SEA Games is 7 gold medals.
To prepare for the upcoming tournaments, especially the 33rd SEA Games, the Deputy Minister suggested that the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports closely coordinate with the Shooting Federation to consider inviting more experts, ensuring even distribution to key events and athletes. In addition, training, competition, and logistics for athletes, especially the issue of bullets, must be well ensured.
According to the representative of the High Performance Sports Department (Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports) shared at the meeting, in the coming time, key athletes will be proposed to equip new guns for training.
It is known that there will be 12 guns for key athletes, meaning each key athlete will have 2 guns (including 1 gun in training and 1 newly purchased gun).
At the same time, according to the proposal of the Mongolian expert, the Vietnamese shooting team needs 8-10 training sessions.
Cloud cau towards ASIAD 20
Reported to the Deputy Minister at the meeting, the coach of the Vietnam Women's Cloud Bridge, Tran Thi Vui said: "The goal of the Vietnam Cloud Bridge team is still to achieve the best results at the SEA Games 33. The whole team is interwoven forces and efforts in important content groups of women and men in which Vietnam Cloud Bridge has strengths."
The Vietnam Women's Cloud Team will focus on 16 athletes from the beginning of 2025, including key faces such as Tran Thi Ngoc Yen, Nguyen Thi My, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huyen, Nguyen Thi Yen... and promising young athletes.
Evaluating the team's achievements, Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong affirmed that the championship of the Vietnamese women's cloud football team at the 2025 World Cup (taking place last March in India) has just proven Vietnam's ability in the international arena.
The Deputy Minister hopes that the core athletes of the women's cloud volleyball team will continue to maintain their form towards the 33rd SEA Games and further towards the 20th ASIAD - 2026. In addition, young athletes need to continue to strive, cultivate, and learn to create a unified development process with inheritance, moving towards high achievements.
Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong also requested the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports to closely coordinate with the National High-level Athletes' Training Center to monitor training, activities, and injuries, ensuring timely support and treatment for athletes.
