Domestic pepper prices: Suddenly plummet
As of 1:00 p.m. today (September 4), domestic pepper prices have suddenly dropped sharply after a series of unchanged days, an average decrease of VND 6,100/kg. Currently, pepper purchasing prices range from 150,500 - 152,000 VND/kg. The average pepper purchase price nationwide is at 151,300 VND/kg.
Purchased at the lowest price among provinces and cities is Gia Lai province, with a deep decrease of VND 6,500/kg, pepper in this area is currently listed at VND 150,500/kg.
Pepper prices simultaneously fixed at VND151,000/kg in Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Binh Phuoc provinces, down VND6,000/kg.
Despite a decrease of 6,000 VND/kg, Dak Lak and Dak Nong still hold the highest pepper purchasing position in the country, anchored at 152,000 VND/kg.

World pepper prices: Maintain stability
According to the International Pepper Community, on the exchanges, the price of black and white pepper in the Indonesian market is stable. Black pepper prices fluctuated around 7,239 USD/ton (equivalent to 188,142 VND/kg). The price of white pepper announced is 10,066 USD/ton (equivalent to 261,616 VND/kg).
For the Brazilian market, ASTA 570 black pepper prices are anchored at 6,950 USD/ton after a sudden decrease of 0.72%.
In the Malaysian market, ASTA black and white pepper prices are anchored at 9,850 USD/ton and 12,300 USD/ton, respectively.
Notably, Vietnam's black pepper export price has moved sideways. The 500 g/l type is traded at 7,100 USD/ton (equivalent to 184,529 VND/kg); the 550 g/l type is currently at 7,300 USD/ton (equivalent to 189,727 VND/kg). Similarly, the price of white pepper for export fluctuates around 10,100 USD/ton (equivalent to 262,499 VND/kg).

In the Indian market, pepper prices continued to remain unchanged in most pepper prices. Garbled pepper costs 67,200 rupees/kg, (equivalent to 210,941 VND/kg), Ungarbled is listed at 65.200 rupees/kg, while gram/liter has the lowest price of 64,200 rupees/kg (exchanged at 201.524 VND/kg).

Assessment and forecast
After the US announced the counterpart tax rate on Vietnam, most businesses were shocked with the figure of 46%.
According to preliminary statistics from the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association (VPSA), Vietnam exported 27,416 tons of pepper of all kinds in the first 2 months of the year. In particular, the US continues to be the largest export market with a volume of 5,890 tons, accounting for 21.5% of the market share.
