On April 10, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province held a conference to strengthen the management of the quality of durian products for export in the area.
The workshop was held when localities in Lam Dong province are preparing to enter the durian harvest season in 2025.
In particular, ensuring the quality of durian, especially the control of Cadimi and Oaltone for export to the Chinese market, is of special concern.

According to the report, in 2025, durian output is estimated to reach 25,518 tons.
Total export turnover is estimated at about 104.15 million USD, an increase of 2.72 million USD compared to 2024. In the export structure, fresh durian reached 20,214 tons and frozen durian reached 1,326 tons.
According to statistics, Lam Dong province has 25,610 hectares of durian. Of which, the pure planting area is 11,397 hectares (9,121 hectares in business) and the intercropping area is 14,213 hectares (4,816 hectares in business). The total harvest in 2024 is estimated at 175,282 tons.
Lam Dong province currently has 61 enterprises and cooperatives participating in purchasing durian. The majority of locally produced durian output (about 85%) is supplied to the fresh consumption market.
Enterprises are tending to promote the processing of durian in the form of freezing bags (accounting for about 15% of total output).
Some typical units such as Long Thuy Construction Materials Co., Ltd., B'laoFood Co., Ltd., Duc Hue Lam Dong Co., Ltd. ...
Currently, the whole province has formed 35 chains linking the production and consumption of durian products with the participation of 1,639 households on an area of 4,339 hectares. Da Huoai district alone has 19 chains, with 731 households and an area of 1,513 hectares.
However, durian exports in the first months of 2025 are facing some difficulties. Mainly related to technical barriers to heavy metal residues (especially cadmium and O gold) exceeding the threshold prescribed by the importing country.
Currently, Lam Dong province's durian is preparing to enter the harvest season. The province pays special attention to ensuring compliance with regulations on plant quarantine and food safety of imported countries, to avoid the risk of being subject to stricter control measures.
The main durian varieties grown in Lam Dong province are Dona and Ri6. The durian harvest time in the province is spread across the whole year and is mainly concentrated from April to November.
Specifically, in Da Huoai district, the harvest is concentrated from mid-April to the end of September, coinciding with the main harvest time of the Western, Southeastern provinces and Thailand.
Meanwhile, in districts and cities such as Bao Lam, Bao Loc, Di Linh, Duc Trong, Lam Ha, Dam Rong, the harvest time lasts from mid-August to mid-November, coinciding with the harvest time of the Central Highlands provinces.

To date, the whole province has been granted 114 durian growing area codes with a total area of 5,489.13 hectares (accounting for 60.2% of the total purely growing area in the business phase) and 10 durian packaging facility codes with a total factory area of 13,419 m2.
In 2023, the General Administration of Customs of China inspected and requested remedies for 17 durian growing areas (area 735.18 ha) that did not meet requirements.
After receiving the notice, the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection of Lam Dong province immediately instructed relevant units and inspected the remedial results in these 17 growing areas.
