Quarrying nearly 1.8 billion tons of bauxite ore
According to the Mineral Planning 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 (Decision No. 866 dated July 18, 2023), Dak Nong owns a total reserve of nearly 1.8 billion tons of bauxite ore, accounting for more than 57% of the country's reserves.
Dak Nong has 5 clusters of mines, each cluster is built with only 1 bauxite processing factory complex. For mine cluster 1 (existing Nhan Co alumina complex), Dak Nong proposed that the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group carry out procedures to increase the factory's capacity to 2 million tons of alumina/year.
Quarry Cluster 2, Viet Phuong Group Joint Stock Company is proposing to build an Alumina Factory complex. The total area is 441.7 hectares and the expected capacity is 1-2 million tons/year. The total estimated investment is over VND 21,000 billion.
The 3 mine cluster has two proposed enterprises: TH Group Joint Stock Company (Nam N'Jang and Truong Xuan communes, Dak Song district, 465ha) and Dong Bac Corporation (Dak N'Drung commune and Nam N'Jang, Dak Song district, 1,315ha).
At the 4th mine cluster (Tuy Duc district), Duc Giang Chemical Group Joint Stock Company proposed to build a factory in Dak Buk So commune (96ha).

Equality among investors
Regarding bauxite mineral exploitation, Standing Vice Chairman of Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee Le Trong Yen affirmed that all investors will be treated equally.
The selection process is based on objective factors, prioritizing modern technology, economic efficiency and strong financial capacity.
Projects must comply with the laws on enterprises, auctions, investment, bidding, land, minerals and the environment.
The projects in the planning will be handled according to the Land Law. For projects outside the planning, the construction of the factory will be considered until 2025.
Mr. Le Trong Yen emphasized that the investment policy must ensure 3 conditions: in accordance with national planning, provincial planning and regional planning.lower-level plans will be updated and adjusted to ensure consistency.
Previously, during a working trip to the Dak Nong Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee on March 1, Politburo member and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh said that bauxite is considered a beauty queen but when choosing the wrong investor, they are covered with a blanket and shelter.
Therefore, the province needs to select investors with potential, capacity, experience, professional management and implementation organizations...
