On April 7, Mr. Ha Van Bac - Head of the Cam Lo District Inter-District Forest Protection Department - Dong Ha City (Quang Tri) - said that recently, in Cam Lo town, a rare herd of storks has appeared with a quantity of up to hundreds of storks.
During the day, the herd of storks often find food in abandoned fields in Cam Lo town and the border area of Phan Xa Phuong village (Cam Thanh commune).
This species mainly eats worms, feces, locust, and yellow-cheeked snails.
At night, they take shelter in cajuput forests and Nghia Hy lake area (Cam Lo district).
To protect the flock of stink bugs, the Forest Protection Department has advised the People's Committee of Cam Lo district to direct the strengthening of propaganda and mobilization of people not to hunt or chase.
According to Mr. Bac, the snakehead crow is a rare bird species, listed in the Vietnam Red Book, often living in mangrove forests. This herd of storks has been appearing for about a month now, but is the densest in the last three days.
