Manulife and WEF launch the Innovation for the Future of Asia's Population Contest

Thu Thuỷ |

The contest with a prize of 200,000 Canadian dollars calls for contributions to solutions to strengthen finances, health care and improve the quality of life in Asia.

The Innovation for the Future of Asias Population contest was launched by Manulife Group in collaboration with the World Economic Forum (WEF).

According to the forecast, by 2050, 1 in 4 Europeans will be over 60 years old. This major demographic shift stems from the reality of increasing life expectancy and decreasing birth rates. When countries in the region adapt to these changes, planning life according to the traditional model of "going to school - working - retiring" will no longer be appropriate. Instead, they will flexibly switch between stages of studying, working, taking care of their family, themselves and enjoying life.

The Innovation for the Future of Asia contest was launched by Manulife Group in collaboration with the World Economic Forum, aiming at the following main goals: finding solutions to help people build more effective financial plans as their life expectancy increases; increasing access to health care services, helping people maintain physical and mental health as they age; optimizing personal and career potential for people at all stages of life through skills development and community connection.

Ms. Sarah Chapman - Global Director of Sustainable Development of Manulife Group shared: To make people have a quality life in the long term, we need to change traditional views on savings, insurance, health care and labor participation. The contest is an opportunity to invest in truly breakthrough solutions, helping to solve population trends shaping the future of Asia, contributing to improving health, finances and quality of life for future generations.

The contest was deployed on Uplink - an open platform of the World Economic Forum and started receiving documents from now until the end of April 28, 2025. The organizers will select 10 typical initiatives to the final, of which, the best 3 initiatives will receive a total prize worth 200,000 Canadian dollars from Manulife Group. In addition, winners and organizations will have the opportunity to participate in exclusive connection events, cooperation with potential partners, and opportunities to be sponsored to implement ideas. Detailed information and how to participate in the contest, please see here.
