At about 9:50 p.m. on April 6, Cat Ba Border Guard Station received a report from Mr. Nguyen Van Dinh (born in 1981, residing in Nam Dinh), the captain of the Hai Nam 68 transport ship, about the ship being stabbed by a rock.
On board the ship were four crew members, transporting more than 2,700 tons of cement, from Ha Nam to Ha Long, Quang Ninh. When running to Cat Ba area, Hai Phong, the ship had to hit a rock and go underground in Con Ruoc area, causing water to overflow into the nose cavity, the risk of sinking was very high, requiring urgent rescue.
Immediately after receiving the information, Cat Ba Border Guard Station reported the incident to the City Border Guard Command. After that, the unit sent 6 officers, soldiers, 2 boats and deployed a fishing boat of fishermen operating nearby to coordinate the rescue.
About 20 minutes later, the search and rescue team reached the scene. At this time, the Hai Nam 68 ship was stranded, water overflowed into the bow compartment, the ship tilted at 40 degrees, at risk of sinking.
The rescue team quickly approached and brought 4 crew members to the boat of the Border Guard. At 0h40 on 7.4, the rescue team brought 4 crew members to the shore safely, in collaboration with the Cat Hai District Medical Center to take the crew members to check the health. At the same time, continue to coordinate with the owner of the vehicle to rent a specialized vehicle to conduct rescue and rescue ships.
