Ho Chi Minh City plans to relocate 61 households to implement the North-South high-speed railway construction project, stretching 13.64 km through the city.

On April 6, according to information from the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City, the North-South high-speed railway line passing through Thu Duc City (Ho Chi Minh City) has a total length of about 13.64 km.

The starting point of the route is in Long Phuoc ward (Thu Duc city), bordering Dong Nai province, and the end point is in An Phu ward, Thu Duc city, Ho Chi Minh City.

This route will run parallel to the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, passing through the An Phu intersection on Mai Chi Tho Street before turning into Thu Thiem Station.

The project will reclaim about 110.6 hectares of land, of which about 20.7 hectares are land for perennial crops, 0.86 hectares are urban land, and the rest is land for other purposes.

In particular, the project needs to relocate 61 households on the railway line.

Thu Thiem Station will be the final station for the North-South high-speed railway.

This station has an area of 17.2 hectares, located in An Phu ward, Thu Duc city. Thu Thiem Station is identified as an important traffic hub, connecting three major railway lines: the North-South high-speed railway, the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway and Metro Line 2 phase 2 (Ben Thanh - Thu Thiem).

With a strategic location between two major roads, Mai Chi Tho Avenue and Luong Dinh Cua Street, Thu Thiem Station is not only an important trading point but will also be a new symbol for Thu Thiem Urban Area.

This is also a prime location, right at the beginning of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway and near the An Phu intersection, this area will become a traffic connection center between Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces.

Currently, the area for Thu Thiem station has been fenced with corrugated iron and fenced off, mainly vacant land and mud, waiting for construction.

The North-South high-speed railway project has a total length of 1,541 km, connecting the capital Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

This route will pass through 20 provinces and cities, starting at Ngoc Hoi Station (Hanoi) and ending at Thu Thiem Station (HCMC).

The route is designed with a maximum speed of up to 350 km/h, transporting passengers and goods, while serving both national defense and security purposes.

The project is applied in the form of public investment, with a total preliminary investment of up to 1.713 million billion VND (67 billion USD) from the budget and other legal capital.

The National Assembly approved the investment policy in November 2024 and requested a feasibility study report from 2025 with the goal of basically completing the project by 2035.
