Support 12.84 billion VND for workers to build and repair "Union Shelter"
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Le Thanh Xuan - Member of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Chairman of TKV Trade Union - said that TKV Trade Union has issued a Resolution and a Project to care for housing for workers in the period of 2024-2028.
Accordingly, the number of "Union Shelter" house appraisals is increased from 2 to 3 times per year. Units are also instructed to review and survey worker families eligible for support in building and repairing houses from this fund.
In 2024 alone, TKV Trade Union has accepted and handed over construction and repair funds to 198 workers' families, including 148 newly built houses and 50 repair houses, with a total cost of 12.84 billion VND.
According to the leader of TKV Trade Union, the whole Group currently has 22 units with collective housing areas with a total of 4,846 collective housing rooms for employees, including 3,738 rooms for single households and 1,108 rooms for households.
Mr. Le Thanh Xuan said that trade unions at all levels in the industry have closely coordinated with specialized agencies in managing the collective housing area through many practical activities such as organizing "Green Saturday" to collect garbage, take care of trees, clean the environment, repair facilities, prevent leakage, and replace damaged equipment. Some units also evaluate, classify and reward accommodation rooms according to levels A, B, C to raise awareness among workers. The Trade Union and specialized agencies have invested 28.98 billion VND to repair and equip rooms with equipment, aiming to build a "Clean - Civilized" workers' housing area.
Recently, TKV Trade Union has coordinated with the Group's specialized departments to survey collective housing areas in industrial parks of Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Ha Nam, and Hanoi provinces to research and propose designing housing models for mine workers with an area of 20 - 25m2, thereby providing orientation for units investing in housing projects for workers.
TKV Trade Union has established 4 survey teams at nursing homes in the industry, thereby deciding to support 235 equipment items such as sports fields, table tennis, running machines, exercise bicycles, TVs, bicycle tables, kitchens, etc. At the same time, organized a survey of the workers' collective housing areas of 14 units in Quang Ninh and Lao Cai, focusing on the housing situation and repair of facilities and architecture in the collective housing areas.
