First of all, it is necessary to affirm that freedom of speech, expression or content creation on social networks is a right guaranteed by the Constitution.
However, freedom must always go hand in hand with responsibility and the obligation to respect the interests of others, not self- play, and illusion of power in cyberspace.
Currently, social networking platforms such as TikTok, YouTube, Facebook... are a business environment, cultural exchange, content creation and entertainment for millions of people.
This strong development comes with many cases of users taking advantage of their reputation, willing to post false information to attract views regardless of the consequences.
They often resort to the reason of freedom of speech but forget that the line between freedom and law violations is very fragile, especially when the content specifically and intentionally harms others.
The prosecution and temporary detention of TikToker Duong Duong shows that Vietnamese law has been seriously controlling behavior in the digital space.
Social networks are now no longer in the "gray area", where users freely insult and fabricate without taking any responsibility.
When an individual's actions violate state interests, damage the honor and dignity of others, or negatively impact businesses, they can completely face administrative or criminal sanctions.
The case of TikToker Duong Duong Duong is a lesson for the moment, and at the same time sets the standard for all other content creators.
That is to invest in genuine values, legitimate information, and put respect first, not offend the honor and interests of others in exchange for a little "virtual fame" or instant interaction. And in the long run, only true values, in accordance with laws and social standards can last sustainably in the digital space.
Social networks are virtual, but the law and the 8th line are real and anyone must be subject to legal regulation. Hot online cannot be a match to help us cross legal boundaries.
