Hope to put it into operation soon
According to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, the Cua Nhuong Fishing Port Project (Cam Nhuong Commune, Cam Xuyen District) has been completed but has not yet been put into operation. Many fishing boats of local fishermen still dock and anchor in the Con Go area next to the port to sell seafood.
Local fishermen hope that the investor will soon complete the procedures to put the Port into operation, making it easier for them to dock, anchor, park ships to sell seafood and facilitate when leaving the port to go out to sea to fish.
On April 5, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung - Chairman of Cam Nhuong Commune People's Committee - shared "Cua Nhuong Fishing Port has been completed but it is no surprise that the handover procedures are being completed. Hopefully, the handover procedures will be completed soon to put the port into operation, helping fishermen to facilitate and at the same time help the logistics services at the fishing port develop, creating jobs and increasing income for people".
The Cua Nhuong Fishing Port Project has a total investment of 280 billion VND, using capital from compensation for marine environmental incidents of Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corporation Limited.
The project is invested by the Project Management Board for Investment in Construction of Agricultural Works and Rural Development of Ha Tinh province, and started construction on January 20, 2024. According to the schedule, it will be completed by December 31, 2024.
This fishing port project has a capacity of 400CV ships that can enter and exit the port during the dry season, a capacity of 100 trips/day, and about 16,000 tons/year of seafood passing through the port, meeting the requirements of a level 2 fishing port.
Currently, the Thach Kim Fishing Port Expansion Investment Project (Thach Kim Commune, Thach Ha District) with a total investment of 60 billion VND has also been completed but has not yet been put into operation. This project started on May 15, 2024, and is scheduled to be completed by December 31, 2024.
Waiting for handover procedures
Mr. Bui Tuan Son - Director of Ha Tinh Fishing Port Management Board - said that the Cua Nhuong Fishing Port Project and the Thach Kim Fishing Port Expansion Project have been completed and are carrying out handover procedures. Hopefully, the handover will be completed soon and the project will be put into operation to promote efficiency.
On April 5, an official of the Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction of Agricultural Works and Rural Development of Ha Tinh province said that the Cua Nhuong Fishing Port Project and the Thach Kim Fishing Port Expansion Project are currently in the process of completing procedures for settlement and licensing to put into operation.
"It is expected to be completed and put into operation in April or May," said the officer of the Ha Tinh Province Agricultural and Rural Development Investment Project Management Board.
As reported by Lao Dong, in 2019, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 476 assigning the People's Committees of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, and Thua Thien Hue provinces to direct the implementation of investment in the projects "Construction and upgrading of fishing logistics service facilities" and the project "Restoration and regeneration of aquatic ecosystems and aquatic resources".
These projects use the compensation for marine environmental incidents of Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corporation Limited.
Implementing the above decision, Ha Tinh province will implement 4 projects including: Investment project to build and expand Thach Kim fishing port; Investment project to build fishing logistics service infrastructure at Cua Khau storm shelter area in Ky Ha commune; Project to dredge and adjust the channel and entrance to Cua Hoi - Xuan Pho storm shelter area; Investment project to build Cua Nhuong Fishing Port in Cam Nhuong commune.
However, the above projects were slow to be implemented, so the Prime Minister later granted an extension.
Up to now, Ha Tinh has only had the investment project to build infrastructure for fishing logistics services at Cua Khau storm shelter area in Ky Ha commune completed and put into use since June 2023.
