On April 11, the ceremony to posthumously award the title of "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" to Major General Hoang The Thien (1922-1995) was solemnly held at the Southeast Armed Forces Museum (HCMC).
The event was coordinated by the 4th Corps Veterans Liaison Committee in collaboration with the Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh Street Liaison Committee, Ho Chi Minh City, the former Vietnamese expert communication committee helped the Cambodian revolution and the Major General Hoang The Thien's Memorial Management Board.
In order to record particularly outstanding achievements in the resistance war against the American imperialism and save the country, on January 23, 2025, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam signed Decision No. 129/QD-CTN awarding the title of "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" to Major General Hoang The Thien.
At the ceremony, under the authorization of the President, Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Binh - Deputy Chief of Staff of the Vietnam People's Army - awarded the title of "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" to relatives of Major General Hoang The Thien.
Mr. Hoang Anh Thi, son of the Major General and Standing Member of the Management Board of the Memorial House, expressed the family's honor and pride in this noble title. This is also the common pride of the generation of our ancestors who sacrificed for independence, unity and national construction.
Major General Hoang The Thien - former Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the IV Party Committee; Head of B.68 Party Central Committee; Deputy Minister of Defense; First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of War Invalids and Social Affairs; Member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; The first political commissar of the Air Force; Political Commissar of Truong Son Command, the first political commissar of the 4th Army.
Major General Hoang The Thien is a prestigious general of the Vietnam Heroic People's Army, a political -military and excellent military officer of the Party, who has made great merits in the cause of national liberation and reunification, building and defending the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and doing noble international obligations; is a shining example of the talent and personality of the revolutionary soldier, the whole life fighting, sacrificing for the ideal of national independence, for the happiness of the people.
This is an opportunity for all comrades, teammates, families and the younger generation to remember, express gratitude and honor the contributions of Major General Hoang The Thien to the Fatherland and the people.
