World oil price today
At the end of a trading week, WTI crude oil was at 69.36 USD/barrel last weekend, down to 61.99 USD/barrel this weekend. Overall last week, WTI crude oil decreased by 7.37 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 10.6% compared to last week.
Brent oil was at 72.76 USD/barrel last weekend, down to 65.58 USD/barrel this weekend. Overall last week, Brent oil decreased by 7.18 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 9.9% compared to last week.
Thus, world oil prices have ended the trading week with a sharp decrease. Especially in the two weekend sessions when both WTI and Brent oil plummeted.
According to analysts, the reason for the sharp decline in oil prices is that OPEC+ suddenly agreed to increase production in the context of a global market fluctuating due to tariff tensions between the US and China. Oil consumption demand is closely linked to economic prospects, so increased output while global growth expectations weakened, creating double pressure on oil prices.
Notably, China - the world's largest oil importer - announced the imposition of an additional 34% tax on all goods from the US starting from April 10. The move comes after US President Donald Trump decided to raise import tariffs to a more than a century high, raising concerns about the risk of a global recession and opening up the risk of retaliation from many other countries.
