Domestic pepper prices: Increase, decrease "dizzyingly"
As of 11:30 today (September 5), domestic pepper prices have returned to the green race, increasing by an average of VND2,900/kg. Currently, pepper purchasing prices range from 153,000 - 155,000 VND/kg. The average pepper purchase price nationwide is at 154,200 VND/kg.
Purchased at the lowest price among provinces and cities is Gia Lai province, with an increase of VND 2,500/kg, pepper in this area is currently listed at VND 153,000/kg.
Pepper prices simultaneously reached 154,000 VND/kg in Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Binh Phuoc provinces, raising the price to 3,000 VND/kg after a sharp decrease.
With the same increase of 3,000 VND/kg, Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces still hold the highest pepper purchasing position in the country, anchored at 155,000 VND/kg.
World pepper prices: Maintain stability
According to the International Pepper Community, on the exchanges, the price of black and white pepper in the Indonesian market is stable. Black pepper prices fluctuated around 7,239 USD/ton (equivalent to 187,925 VND/kg). The price of white pepper announced is 10,066 USD/ton (equivalent to 261,314 VND/kg).
For the Brazilian market, ASTA 570 black pepper prices are anchored at 6,950 USD/ton after a sudden decrease of 0.72%.
In the Malaysian market, ASTA black and white pepper prices are anchored at 9,850 USD/ton and 12,300 USD/ton, respectively.
Notably, Vietnam's black pepper export price has moved sideways. The 500 g/l type is traded at 7,100 USD/ton (equivalent to 184,316 VND/kg); the 550 g/l type is currently at 7,300 USD/ton (equivalent to 189,508 VND/kg). Similarly, the price of white pepper for export fluctuates around 10,100 USD/ton (equivalent to 262,196 VND/kg).
In the Indian market, pepper prices continued to remain unchanged in most pepper prices. Garbled pepper costs 67,200 rupees/kg, (equivalent to 210,733 VND/kg), Ungarbled is listed at 65.200 rupees/kg, while gram/liter has the lowest price of 64,200 rupees/kg (exchanged at 201,325 VND/kg).
Assessment and forecast
According to the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), pepper prices in the domestic market in March 2025 will have certain fluctuations in increase and decrease at some times, however, in general, domestic pepper prices in March will still increase compared to the same price in February.
The new US tax policy has caused pepper prices to fall to their lowest level in many months, losing 6,000 VND/kg in just one session. According to experts, if pepper loses the important mark of VND150,000/kg, the market will fall further. However, the current supply and demand situation has pushed consumer prices back to recovery.
