The opening victory for the great victory of Spring 1975
The Phuoc Long victory on January 6, 1975 - a brilliant milestone in the history of the resistance war against the US to save the country. This is the first time that our army and people have won a complete victory in liberating a province in the South (Phuoc Long province, now under Binh Phuoc province).
Phuoc Long area (now Binh Phuoc province) is considered an important defense line to protect Saigon from afar. Despite the heavy deployment of forces in the military branches of Dong Xoai, Bo Duc, Duc Phong, Phuoc Binh district, Phuoc Long town and Ba Pa base.
At the end of 1974, our Party decided to launch the Road 14 - Phuoc Long Campaign. Binh Phuoc armed forces continuously launched fierce attacks. At 10:30 a.m. on January 6, 1975, soldiers of Company 7, Regiment 141 quickly raised the flag at the Provincial Governor's mansion, opening a historic victory. At 11:30 a.m. on January 6, 1975, the entire Phuoc Long province was liberated.
Promoting the victory, our army continued to consolidate and expand the liberated zone. On March 23, 1975, the enemy retreated to Chon Thanh, An Loc - the center of the province, Binh Long province was liberated. After that, Chon Thanh was the last locality of Binh Long province to be liberated.
50 years have passed, the memory of the Phuoc Long victory is still imprinted in the minds of those who participated in the resistance war.
At the conference to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Phuoc Long victory, Major General Nguyen Ngoc Doanh - former squad leader, Regiment 141, who directly participated in the Phuoc Long campaign, said that the Phuoc Long victory was not only a simple military victory but also had special historical significance. He called this a " Strategic reconnaissance posture" of our army and people.
From fierce battlefields to dynamic economic zones
According to Ms. Ton Ngoc Hanh - Secretary of the Binh Phuoc Provincial Party Committee, in the context of many difficulties, the Party Committee, government and people in the province are united in heart, promoting the revolutionary tradition of gradually restoring the economy and developing society. From a place that was once a fierce battlefield with a low socio-economic starting point, Binh Phuoc has become a dynamically developing province of the Southeast.
"The scale of Binh Phuoc's economy has increased 92 times compared to the time of new liberation. Binh Phuoc has formed 13 industrial parks and 1 Hoa Lu international border gate economic zone, attracting more than 5 billion USD in foreign investment. Industrial, processing, manufacturing and high-tech agricultural projects are continuously expanding, creating jobs for tens of thousands of workers, said Ms. Ton Ngoc Hanh.
In addition, people's lives are constantly improving. Average income per capita increased sharply, the poverty rate decreased to nearly 1%. The health and education systems are invested synchronously. Digital transformation and administrative reform are strongly promoted. Binh Phuoc is currently among the leading groups in the country in digital transformation, building e-government, creating favorable conditions for people and businesses.
Phuoc Long victory paves the way to liberate the South
Speaking at the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Binh Phuoc Province (March 23, 2025), President Luong Cuong affirmed: The victory of Phuoc Long and An Loc is a direct result from the resilient fighting spirit of the armed forces of three troops and people of Binh Phuoc. This is a strategic significance, completely liberating a dysentery in an important position just in the north of Saigon, creating a large and safe area for a solid safe for the task of liberating Saigon, proceeding to unify the country.
108km of expressway will help Binh Phuoc break through
Binh Phuoc province is gradually building modern transport infrastructure through National Highway 13 and National Highway 14. The province is constructing 7km of the Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh expressway and preparing to start construction of 101km of the Gia Nghia - Dak Nong expressway project. It is expected that in 2027, the two expressways will be put into operation, creating a socio-economic breakthrough for Binh Phuoc.
