On April 8, the Office of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province announced that the Government Office had just issued Notice No. 161/TB-VPCP dated April 7, 2025 on the conclusion of the Government Standing Committee on the implementation of investment in the expressway from Ca Mau city to Dat Mui.
The notice of conclusions stated that the investment in building the highway from Ca Mau city to Mui Dat Mui is very necessary, directed by the General Secretary in Notice No. 109 -TB/VPTW dated November 20, 2024 of the Central Office, in order to connect the North -South highway to Mui Dat Mui and Hon Khoai port in Ca Mau province, helping to promote economic -social development and national security and security in the field of Defense, Defense and Defense region of the region.
Recently, the Prime Minister has directed Ca Mau province and relevant ministries and branches to urgently study the investment plan for the route, striving to start the project in 2025; however, the implementation is still delayed, there is no consensus on the route investment agency.
In order to early invest in the route, the Government's Standing Committee agreed on the policy of assigning the Ministry of Defense to invest in the highway from Ca Mau City to Mui Dat in accordance with the law on public investment and relevant law provisions. The Ministry of Finance assigns the shall assume the prime responsibility for, and coordinate with the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Defense, the People's Committee of Ca Mau Province and the relevant agencies to complete the dossier and procedures in accordance with the law and submit it to the Prime Minister for consideration and decision.
The People's Committee of Ca Mau province is responsible for implementing the project construction and site clearance to ensure the groundbreaking of the above-mentioned expressway construction investment project before September 2, 2025.

The Government Standing Committee assigned the Ministry of Finance to balance the project investment capital in the 2026-2030 medium-term public investment plan; capital preparing for investment in 2025 taken from adjusted sources from other projects that have not been allocated and from increased revenue in 2024, and report to competent authorities for consideration and decision in accordance with the provisions of law.
According to the Road Network Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 12/QD-TTg dated January 3, 2025, the Ca Mau - Dat Mui expressway is planned to be about 90km long with a scale of 4 lanes and an investment process before 2030.
According to the plan, the Ca Mau - Dat Mui Expressway will run parallel to National Highway 1 and Ho Chi Minh Road to Rach Goc Town, then to Dat Mui (Ngoc Hien District). This planning direction aims to take advantage of the formation and effective promotion of Hon Khoai General Seaport in the future.
