New development of 37,000 union members
According to the Labor Confederation of Labor (Labor Federation) of Thanh Hoa province, implementing the Plan No. 185/KH -TLD dated February 13
Mr. Vo Manh Son - Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labor said that to achieve this goal, the Provincial Federation of Labor has directed trade unions at all levels to proactively develop plans, survey the situation of enterprises; improve and supplement the Steering Committee for developing union members, establish grassroots trade unions; assign specific responsibilities to each member; promote propaganda, mobilization and strengthen the gathering of workers to participate in trade union organizations according to assigned targets. At the same time, regularly urge, check, and synthesize data on union members and grassroots unions, promptly report to the Provincial Steering Committee for Union Member Development.
In that spirit, based on the assigned targets and practical conditions of each locality, unit and trade union levels have actively propagated and mobilized the development of union members, focusing on enterprises that do not have trade unions and grassroots labor unions that have been received and recruited. Propaganda activities are held directly at enterprises, issuing leaflets and leaflets providing information on the rights and obligations of workers when participating in trade unions; organize rich movements and activities to attract and gather workers.
With those efforts, in the first quarter of 2025, trade unions at all levels in the province have newly established 29/110 grassroots trade unions (reaching 26% of the plan assigned by the Provincial Federation of Labor Standing Committee), admitting 3,253 new union members.
Solutions in the coming time
According to the Thanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labor, the work of developing union members and establishing grassroots unions in recent times, in addition to advantages, still has many difficulties. Due to the impact of many complicated developments in the world situation, businesses face difficulties in transporting goods, high costs, and affecting policies for workers.
The labor situation in some large enterprises has frequent fluctuations, high work intensity makes workers have little time to participate in trade union activities. Many grassroots trade unions have to organize extracurricular activities, affecting the quality of activities and making it difficult to attract and gather union members.
Some business owners still avoid, delay or lack cooperation in establishing trade unions according to legal regulations, affecting the progress and effectiveness of organizational development. In addition, some contents and methods of trade union activities, although innovated, have not yet met the requirements in the new situation.
Faced with that reality, to complete the goal of developing union members in 2025, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labor has proposed a number of key solutions such as continuing to strengthen the direction of trade unions at all levels to promote the work of mobilizing, propagating, and attracting workers to participate in the Trade Union organization; establishing grassroots trade unions and grassroots trade unions; taking forms to promptly encourage and reward units that do this work and soon complete the assigned targets.
At the same time, innovate the content and methods of propaganda in a flexible, convincing manner, suitable for each target group; expand the scope of mobilization in both the formal and informal labor sector. Proactively coordinate with local authorities, grasp the situation of enterprises and workers; develop plans, organize propaganda, disseminate labor laws, obligations and benefits when joining the Trade Union organization.
The Provincial Federation of Labor also focuses on allocating appropriate resources for the development of union members, supporting training and encouraging the team of cadres, collaborators, and propagandists directly involved in propaganda and mobilization of workers to join the Trade Union organization.
