TechCrunch reported on November 29 that YouTube Music has introduced the Recap feature to compete with Spotify's Wrapped.
This feature allows users to watch their artists, songs, music videos, and favorite playlist in the past year.
Recap 2022 includes Top Trends indicators that show which artists are discovered by users the earliest. The Identify feature is personalized, showing each users musical personality based on their music listening habits.
In addition, Recap shares unique content on YouTube, such as a remaster or the most favorite live performance of the year.
Users can also view and share highlight cards for their favorite songs of each season. At the same time, select to personalize those cards by adding your own image directly from Google Photos.
Last year, users could only access Recap through YouTube Music. This year, the experience can be accessed through the main YouTube app.
But with this feature, users can experience their own summary by using the YouTube app on iOS or Android and searching for Recap 2022.
At that time, users will see a summary playlist. Continuing to click on stories, users can view personalized stories for themselves.
Users can also share their 2022 summary on apps like Instagram, Twitter or Facebook by clicking the arrow at the end of each story.
YouTube is leading Spotify as the app has yet to deploy the Wrapped experience.
Last week, Spotify sent an email to users announcing that Wrapped would be released soon. YouTube introduced the Recap feature at the same time Apple Music launched the improved Replay feature.
