Assessment and forecast
According to the latest report from Ptexim, the last week of March saw improvements from demand from the EU, US and Asian markets, while China's purchasing power remained weak.
The Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) informed that the US will import pepper from 35 markets in January 2025. Of which, Vietnam is the largest supplier, accounting for nearly 65% in volume and 67% in value. Therefore, the new tax policy could affect global supply.
Even though 60-70% of the total pepper output has been harvested, the supply is still limited due to the psychology of domestic garden owners holding goods, waiting for prices to increase to bring a large quantity to the market.
